Walk the Greek Islands.

Our walking trails are between 6km and 15km each day and range from are easy to moderate.

The walks are planned around exploring and enjoying the islands, you are free to walk as much or as little as you want.

The walking trails offer a mix of coastal walks, walks through olive groves, walks past the many historical sites, visit caves, explore small villages, fishing ports, churches, beaches and bays.

About the Islands.

Below is a brief desciption of the islands and walking trails that you will walk and explore.

Lefkada Island

Sivota on the south side of Lefkada Island is our year-round home and base for Greek Island Explorers.
Lefkada Island is located between Corfu Island and Kefalonia Island and is surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Ionion Sea.
The island has a dramatic landscape with vertical rocky cliffs, mountainous areas with valleys and gorges leading to some beautiful, traditional and friendly Greek villages.
The are many walking trails on Lefkada which include coastal routes, waterfalls, springs and ancient ruins, with many passing through olive groves and untouched nature.

Meganisi Island

Meganisi Island lies to the east of Lefkada, seperated by the Meganisi channel and Skorpios Island.

Meganisi is an island of natural beauty with lush green vegetation and many bays. There are three villages on the island. Vathi which is the main port of Meganisi, Spatochori which is located on a cliff overlooking the sea and Katomeri which is on the hillside.

There are many great walking trails on Meganisi, the highlights are the traditional villages, olive groves, coastal paths and sea caves. The most famous sea cave is Papanikoli cave which was used as a hiding place for submarines during World War two.

Kalamos Island

Kalamos Island is a mountainous island known for its lucious vegetation and tall vertical pine trees which grow right up to the coastline with beaches of smooth white pebbles leading into the clear blue sea.
Our walking trails follow the forested coastline between the villages of Episkopi in the north and Kalamos Port and over to the amazing Agrapidia beach with its old seafront windmill and clear blue water.
Highlights of our walking trails include the Venetian Castle of Kalamos from 13th century BC, Greek Chapels, windmills, forest areas and the quaint village of Kalamos with is winding streets.

Kastos Island

Kastos is one of the least inhabited of the Ionion islands with around 50 permanant residents and lies to the east of Kalamos.

Kastos is home to ancient olive groves, windmills, secluded bays with crystal clear water and one small village.

Walking trails are easy to moderate on Kastos Island, following the coastal paths along the sea, visiting the small coves and beaches along the way.

The trail crossing Halkierini Hill to Poros Peak offers some wonderful views towards Kalamos and the Greek mainland.

Ithaka Island

Ithaka lies to the east of Kefalonia and is one of the smaller islands of the Ionian Sea. It has large mountainous areas forested with pine, oak and fir trees, leading down to multiple small secluded beaches and bays.
Ithaka is famous for its many walking trails which pass through centuries old olive groves, stone huts, chapels and windmills leading to different village and fishing ports spread along the amazing rugged coast.
Kioni, located in the north west of the island, has beautiful traditional buildings lining the waters edge of the port which has some local tavernas, boutique shops and is a beautiful village to walk, explore and meet the locals.

Kefalonia Island

Kefalonia is the largest and most mountainous of the Ionian islands, with an amazing coastline and two of the area we visit are Fiscardo and Sami. The island offers beautiful beaches, caves, lush vegetation all surrounded by turquoise waters.

The beautiful fishing village of Fiscardo is famous for its ancient venetian buildings and surrounding lush vegetation. Our walks start from Fiscardo and travel along the coast and inland, where you will be welcomed with a friendly smile from the locals.

Sami is famous for its caves and underground lakes, and is also home to the ancient castle and acropolis of Kyaits. The walking trails around Sami are great for exploring and offer stunning views of neighbouring islands.

Other Islands in the area.

There are many other islands in the area including Skorpios, Atokos, Arkoudi, Thilia, Kythros, Formikoula and more, they don't all have walking trails but are they are worth a stop to swim and enjoy.
Skorpios Island is the most famous private island and was once owned by Greek shipping billionaire, Aristotle Onassis who married Jacqueline Kennedy on the island.
Atokos Island is small and uninhabited and is known as 'the secret island'. The island is privately owned but we can stop for a swim at the beautiful beaches where you may see a few wild goats and the family of black pigs.
